The Approx. Cost Lawyers Pay for Leads

This is a wide ranging question, because “personal injury leads” means different things to different lead generation companies. Some companies include medical malpractice, auto accident leads, or workers compensation leads with their “Personal Injury Leads” product. Others will charge a different fee per practice area. Make sure you clarify which leads you want to buy.

Generally speaking, an auto accident lead is worth more than a workers compensation lead, which is worth more than a personal injury lead, which is worth more than a med mal lead. You also have to consider geography - it costs a lot less to generate a personal injury lead in rural Iowa than it does in NYC or LA.

Here’s a general range of what personal injury leads cost (nationwide averages):

Auto Accident Leads: $300-$750 per lead

Workers Compensation Leads: $100-$150 per lead

Personal Injury Leads (Slip & Fall, Dog Bite, Defective Products etc): $100+ per lead.

Keep in mind, this is for exclusive leads. You can get cheaper prices from certain providers, but typically those leads will be sent to multiple law firms at the same time, so the ratio leads to cases (conversion rate), will be a lot lower in most instances.

In most states, lawyers are barred from paying for “leads” as it is considered to be “fee-splitting” with non-lawyers.
